Managers Dunston Notes

We provide a warm welcome to everyone connected to Dunston FC for our final home game of the season. We hope they enjoy their visit to the Eco Power Environmental Stadium.

This home game signals the end of a positive home campaign with our record (if we win today) putting us within the top 5 for home form this season. That is a great achievement and shows that the players have had the capabilities to challenge at the top end of the table. However, our away form has been too inconsistent and is the reason why we sit 11th with 4 games to go. In our recent away games, we have been difficult to score against, only conceding 1 in the last 3, but disappointingly we have only scored 1 goal. The reason for this has not been due to a change in system, being more defensive in our approach or the quality of attacking players we have had at our disposal, just in this recent period of games we have found scoring difficult. The players have continued to train well and have showed no signs of letting up even though the season is coming to a close. I know today and in the next 3 fixtures the players will be giving everything to gain maximum points.

On a personal note, I have enjoyed the additional challenges and opportunities moving to the club within season has provided and believe the club are making progress on and off the pitch. We have a lot of enjoyable hard work ahead of us, but with the togetherness we have within the club I know we are all up to the task and will be taking on the challenges that lie ahead with passion, enthusiasm and complete dedication. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Graham, Roger and the rest of the committee for their positive support and investment in the club since I joined, to Andy and Pete for their unwavering support and endless commitment as part of the management team, Sam and Dom’s time and effort to provide quality physio, treatment and rehab to the players, Gaz and Brian for their dedication in providing the necessary kit and equipment for training and games. To Adam for his media work to market and promote the club to a wider audience. A huge thanks to the players for the way they have dealt with the changes in management, their response to our way of playing, training and preparing for matches and giving 100% in games. Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported the club by attending games home and away, becoming part of the members club or by volunteering their services that allow our football club to progress and grow.

Hope you enjoy the final home game and we are all celebrating 3 points by the end of the day.

All the best,

Ian
