Managers Lincoln Notes

We provide a warm welcome to all those connected to Lincoln United to the Eco-Power stadium for today’s game.

We come into this game following two games showing the inconsistency levels of our season to date. Last Saturday, we were excellent in difficult conditions against a good side in Hebburn who came into the game on the back of 4 wins out of 5. We showed the necessary desire and work rate to cope with the conditions and the opposition, which gave us the foundation to play with an intensity and quality of play they couldn’t live with. The goals were of excellent quality, and we defended well for the majority of the game and got our rewards. However, in contrast to this, on Tuesday against Frickley, we were simply not good enough. I have turned it over and over again in my mind since the game and cannot find a reason why we were so poor. We lacked the drive, desire, work rate and know how to adapt to the conditions, opposition or occasion. It is the most disappointed I have been since taking over as first team manager, the players know this and I can assure you were as disappointed as I was after the game. I can’t guarantee the result today but I can guarantee you there will be a reaction and the minimum standard of performance will be every player giving 100% and putting the team first. The only positives from the game were that we only conceded one goal and Mikey Roxburgh has fitted in well since signing.

We aim to get back to winning ways today and look forward to doing it in front of a good crowd. Thank you as ever for your support of the club.

Enjoy the game
