U18’s Update

Update from the chair

Our two under eighteen teams have now finished their stop, start season.

The U18 Blue squad like all teams have endured a frustrating time over the last two seasons, they were doing well in the top division challenging for the title last season before the league was declared null and void in March .
They picked up where they left off at the start of this season with more or less the same squad of players and once again put in a strong claim for the title. They also did well in the early rounds of the FA youth cup before losing to a strong York City team .

Dropped points at home just after the restart following this years lockdown  have proved costly with the side finishing second by two points to Hallam Wisewood FC.

Manager Stacy Reed can take great satisfaction with the way his team have performed, and several of his players have represented our development and reserve teams with a couple of players also being involved with first team training and hopefully we will see some of them make their debut.

We would like to thank Stacy and his assistant Steve Galloway along with the players for the time and hard work they have put in during a very frustrating  period of the last two seasons and we wish them well for the future.
Our U18 Yellow squad began their first season at this level and got off to solid start taking up a top three position, unfortunately that momentum was brought to a halt with the suspension of the season in November. After the restart they never found their rhythm and injuries and player unavailability  due to Covid impacted on the results, with manager Phil Dimelow struggling to put a team together at times .They have however finished in a respectable mid table position.

Phil has recently informed us that he will be stepping down from his managerial role for next season which is disappointing for the club, Phil has been Involved with Park Steels for many years and some of his team have been with him since they were five years old and training on the park.

Phil and his wife Lisa have put a lot of time and effort into this squad over the years, Lisa taken on secretarial duties and organising tournaments abroad for the lads and both have been a real asset to the club.

We wish them both well for the future and hopefully  we will still see them from time to time  at the Eco-Power Stadium.
