Steels loan in Huddersfield Town goalkeeper

Stocksbridge Park Steels have completed the loan signing of highly rated Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Michael Roxburgh until the end of the season.

The Steels have moved quick to replace Ed Hall after his departure on Sunday. They have brought in Roxburgh who signed for Huddersfield in 2020 from Hartlepool United. He is seen as a potential number one in the future and has made appearances on the bench of the senior side.

He also comes with non-league experience having had loan spells with Billingham Town and most recently Emley so he’ll be ready for his debut against Hebburn Town on Saturday.

After the loan was completed, Stocksbridge manager Ian Richards said: “Following the unexpected departure of Ed, we wanted to move quickly to sign a goalkeeper ready for Hebburn on Saturday.

“We decided that a loan move would be best at this time as it would allow us to plan for a longer term replacement for next season.

“I cannot thank people in the professional and non-league game enough for offering the services or trying to sort a goalkeeper for us.

“We are delighted to sign Michael Roxburgh on loan until the end of the season from Huddersfield Town.

“He is highly regarded by the goalkeeping staff at the club and has non-league experience from previous loans so understands the demands of the non-league game. We hope it is beneficial for all three parties involved.”
