Reserve Reports

South Elmsall United Services 5-2 Steels Reserves

After a momentous week, beating North Gawber and Swinton, the reserves moved onto matters of a cup type on Saturday. A combination of injuries, external commitments and an opportunity to blood new players meant a new look line-up when facing South Elmsall at Frickley Athletics ground.

Despite taking the lead through Taylor Mansell, scores were level at half time. A combination of the pitch and a physical Elmsall side meant that Stocksbridge never really found their normal fluent passing style and were often chasing the game. With 15 minutes to go Josh Millen equalised from the penalty spot and the game looked as if it was heading towards extra time. However, a crazy final 10 minutes saw Elmsall score three times, for what on reflection, was a deserved victory.

The reserves now focus on maintaining their unbeaten home record this Saturday against Sheffield Town
