As Stocksbridge have not won an FA Cup game for a good number of seasons, this year we will enter at the earliest stage which is the extra preliminary round. This takes place on the 6th of August. The draw for this round and the next round takes place next Friday the 8th of July.
As the Competition was oversubscribed, it has not been possible to accommodate all Clubs that submitted an application to enter. As a result of the further restructuring in The FA National League System, the maximum number of Clubs that can be accepted to participate in the Competition in its current format shall be 732.
Similar to previous seasons, in order to maintain the number of participating Clubs at a similar level and to ensure the Competition can retain its current format, it is necessary for a number of Clubs at Step 4 of The FA National League System to enter the Competition in the Extra Preliminary Round instead of the Preliminary Round. For the 2022-23 Competition there shall be 95 Clubs at Step 4 that will enter the Competition in the Extra Preliminary Round instead of receiving exemption to the Preliminary Round, which is the round where the remaining Step 4 Clubs shall enter. These Clubs will be the 29 newly promoted Clubs from Step 5 and also the 66 lowest ranked Step 4 Clubs not relegated, based on their points per game (PPG) from the 2021-2022 season. The 66 lowest ranked Step 4 Clubs shall comprise of 8 Clubs from six of the eight Step 4 Leagues, and 9 from the other two.
The draws for the Extra Preliminary and Preliminary Round shall be released at 1pm on Friday 8 July. Please note, only Clubs competing in those rounds shall be emailed these draws.
